Meet Katie Stack, Events Manager at The Dubois Center.

Describe your role at The Dubois Center.

I help bring events to life! My role is a mix of planning, problem-solving and making sure our guests and clients have the best experience possible.

What’s your career background?

I started my career as a support specialist for a beer app (a fun first job!), then moved into student experience work in the housing office here at UNC Charlotte. I also spent time working as a wedding planner, so now I get to bring all those worlds together.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

It’s a tie between hearing from a client after an event about how amazing their experience was, and watching all of our different teams come together behind the scenes to make it happen.

Tell us your favorite memory from working at The Dubois Center.

The holiday party we hosted for our building team! It was so great to see everyone relaxing, laughing and having fun after a busy semester.

What couldn’t you do without on the job?

The support of our entire building team, whether it’s a friendly “hello” or someone helping move a table, I couldn’t do it without every single one of them.

Tell us something surprising that people might not know about you.

I played ice hockey my entire life until I left for college!

What do you do for fun outside of work?

Crafting, reading, video games and exploring Charlotte’s many wine bars.

What/who inspires you?

My event manager counterpart and other half, Anna! Her creative approach to problem-solving and the way she leads with kindness inspires me, not just as an event professional, but as a person. She makes work more fun, and I’m lucky to learn from her (and giggle a lot) along the way.
