Meet Joey Crocker, FM & BES Manager at The Dubois Center.

How long have you worked at The Dubois Center?

I have been with the University for 9 years, with the last two years being at the Dubois Center.

Describe your role.

I’m the Maintenance and Operations Manager for The Dubois Center, so I’m responsible for the facility’s needs on a daily basis. I make sure the building is maintained and operated properly.

What’s your career background?

My background is in the HVACR field, having spent many years as a technician.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

I enjoy fixing things and helping people. If I can do something to make someone’s day better, then that is rewarding to me.

Tell us your favorite memory from working at The Dubois Center.

The first Lovin’ Life Music Fest was quite an event for the building, and it was memorable to have The Dubois Center as a centerpiece for the event.

What couldn’t you do without on the job?

I would have to say my airpods. They allow me to make and take phone calls without disturbing anyone. So if you see me talking to myself, I’m probably on the phone.

Tell us something surprising that people might not know about you.

Early in my working career I worked for the railroad, running freight trains up and down the East Coast.

Do you know someone at The Dubois Center you think others should know too? Tell us! Email your People of Dubois suggestion to elisabeththornton@charlotte.edu.
