Event FAQ

Book an Event

I’m interested in holding an event at The Dubois Center. What is the first step?

First, an event request form must be submitted.  Once received, the events staff will process the event and get back to you to let you know the status of your request.

What if I want to see the space availability for multiple dates?

In the “Additional Dates: separate with and/or” section of the event request form, please list all dates you’re considering for your event. Simply separate each date with “or” to show your flexibility.

Can I tour the venue?

We’d be happy to schedule a walkthrough of our venue! Please email us at duboiscenter@charlotte.edu with some basic details about your event and we can schedule a convenient time from there.

Please note: Walk-in tours are not available—appointments must be scheduled in advance.

How do I make changes to my reservation?

Any changes to your reservation, including room setup, guest count, or other logistics, must be submitted at least 48 hours in advance. Last-minute requests may not be guaranteed.

To request a change, please reply within your original email thread with your event manager or contact us at duboiscenter@charlotte.edu.

What are the parking procedures for an event?

At this time, we do not offer designated event parking. However, there are several pay-to-park options located around our building, with prices varying by lot.

We highly encourage guests to consider using the light rail, which offers a convenient and reliable way to reach our venue.

We also have up to 13 reserved “VIP” parking spots available. They are $20 a spot/per day. After official event booking, you can inform the Events Managers if you are interested in reserving any of the spots.

Can I have an outside catering company come cater my event at The Dubois Center?

Due to the university’s relationship with Chartwells, events here at The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City have to use our in house catering service. No outside catering or food is permitted.

How will the security policy impact my event?

All attendees at events held at The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City are required to wear a University-issued nametag or an event badge provided by the program organizer. Name tags must be visible at all times while in the building.

Each event is required to staff a check-in table in the first-floor lobby to distribute name tags. A check-in table will be assigned to you upon arrival—please visit the lobby desk on the day of your event to receive your table assignment.

To ensure a smooth arrival process:

  • Your staff must be present at least 30 minutes before attendee arrival to greet guests and manage check-in.
  • Attendees will not be permitted beyond the lobby until your staff is present.
  • Please plan to have a representative at the check-in table for at least 30 minutes after the event begins to assist any late arrivals.

Organizers are responsible for providing name tags. These can be simple stick-on badges but must clearly include the attendee’s name and the event name.
