Under the direction of Dr. John Connaughton, the Economic Forecast has provided invaluable economic data for North Carolina since 1981. Barings joined the Economic Forecast as a sponsor in 2010. The Belk College of Business hosts a quarterly luncheon and press conference for the business community and the media.

Dr. Connaughton is considered one of the top economists in North Carolina. He joined the UNC Charlotte faculty in 1978 and has served as director of the quarterly Barings/UNC Charlotte Economic Forecast since 1981. Dr. Connaughton also covers national and international economic issues including employment, energy, trade and government spending.
